  Israel is carving the details on the Raven figure of the Eagle/Raven Totem Pole commissioned by the U.S. Forest Service. This totem pole was designed to represent all of the Tlingit people: the two main animal figures are the Eagle and the Raven which represent the two moieties of the Tlingit people. It is located in the lobby of the Southeast Alaska Visitor Center in Ketchikan, Alaska.
Israel is painting the Frog crest on Kinaa Kinaa's drum in his Ketchikan studio.
 

 
Israel's carving tools are displayed here in the foreground, beside the replicated Chief Kyan Totem Pole, Ketchikan, Alaska. This totem pole was commissioned by the City of Ketchikan to replace an older version of the original totem.
Israel takes a break, for a Kodak moment, during a carving session where he is roughing out the figure of a wolf head . This wolf headdress is an artifact replication commissioned by the U.S. Forest Service. The wolf headdress is on display permanently in the Native Traditions room at the Southeast Alaska Visitor Center, Ketchikan, Alaska.
 

 
Israel is painting a Tlingit box design on a red cedar bentwood box, commissioned by a private Native art collector, in his Washington State studio.
Israel is carving on a traditional alder grease bowl at the University of Washington's Burke Museum in November of 1999 during their annual Native cultural celebration.

Israel's daughter Holly is impressed with his rapport with the visitors !
